Every July, Plastic Free July is a to rethink single-use plastic. For Stormwater360, it's a chance to look at the full picture of what we do not just one pollutant, but everything that runs off our streets, roofs and industrial sites before it reaches a river or harbour.
Why This Matters to Us
Stormwater360 was created to protect the future of our waterways. Our mission is to introduce innovative, cost-effective solutions that address the health of urban waterways and manage stormwater effectively, reducing the impact of urban runoff and preserving water quality across everything a catchment carries: litter, sediment, metals, hydrocarbons, and yes, plastic.
That breadth is really the point. A single stormwater problem rarely has a single-product answer, which is why our approach spans the whole treatment train, from catch basin inserts like EnviroPod® Filter, to hydrodynamic separators like Cascade Separator™, to media filtration with StormFilter™, through to green infrastructure like Filterra® that reduces runoff before it's even generated.
Reducing Plastic in Our Own Operations
Credibility starts at home, so we've been steadily working single-use plastic out of our day-to-day operations, replacing it with sustainable substitutions wherever we can, a small, ongoing commitment that sits alongside the larger infrastructure work.
Operation Clean Sweep®
Stormwater360 is proud to be an Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) New Zealand Partner, supporting the industry-led programme's mission to eliminate plastic pellet, flake, and powder loss into Aotearoa New Zealand's waterways. Managed locally by Plastics New Zealand, OCS certifies plastics-handling sites against the equipment and procedures needed to stop resin spills from reaching stormwater drains, and ultimately our rivers and moana. As an OCS New Zealand Partner, Stormwater360 provides the LittaTrap™ with nurdle liner and EnviroPod® Filter with nurdle liner to capture any pellet loss and to keep plastic pellets out of the environment before they ever escape.
Rosedale Park Clean-Up
Our team also recently volunteered at a clean-up at Rosedale Park, a restoration project we've supported over several years.
This time, we spent the morning shifting 350kg of mulched weed to make compost, clearing vines, feeding the chickens, and planting, working alongside the volunteers and organisers who have poured years of effort into bringing this space back to life. It's genuinely inspiring to see how far the restoration has come, and a great reminder that healthy waterways start with healthy catchments parks and green spaces included.
