Stormwater360 Recognised at the New Zealand Innovation Awards
Stormwater360 was honoured at the New Zealand Innovation Awards 2016, taking out the Innovation in Sustainability & Cleantech Award for the LittaTrap™, a milestone that reflects our long-standing commitment to protecting waterways through practical innovation.
At the heart of this recognition was the LittaTrap™, a simple yet highly effective catchpit insert designed to capture litter and gross pollutants before they enter our stormwater networks. Installed directly into existing drains, the system allows water to flow freely while retaining plastics and debris, and can be easily removed and emptied, making it both accessible and cost-effective for widespread use.
Judges and industry leaders recognised the strength of the solution not in complexity, but in its impact. The LittaTrap™ was praised for being lightweight, affordable, and easy to deploy, key attributes that support scalability and real-world adoption. At a time when urban litter and plastic pollution were becoming increasingly visible environmental challenges, the technology offered a practical way for communities to take control of the issue at its source.
This award marked an important moment in Stormwater360’s journey. It reinforced our belief that effective stormwater management doesn’t need to be complicated, it needs to work.
