WaterNZ Stormwater Conference 2024

06 May 2024

As we eagerly anticipate this year's Water New Zealand Stormwater Conference, we are thrilled that Stormwater360 is back for our 21st year as the premier sponsor of this industry-leading event. With our unwavering commitment to advancing stormwater management, we are excited to contribute to meaningful discussions and collaborations aimed at addressing the critical challenges facing our communities.

Reflecting on lessons learned from last year, it is evident that the urgency to address issues related to flooding, water quality and infrastructure renewals has never been more pressing. We can expect more frequent and intense extreme weather events in the future, underscoring the need for proactive measures and innovative solutions.

The traditional metrics, such as the "1 in a 100-year storm," are no longer reliable due to the changing climate patterns. Our stormwater infrastructure was once designed to simply remove water, but now it is crucial that we take a more comprehensive approach that acknowledges the interdependence of our actions with the natural water cycle, and where we prioritize longer-term solutions and hold ourselves to stricter standards.

With the dawn of a new government, there is a unique opportunity to address past actions and pave the way for a sustainable future, and we call upon government officials and regulatory authorities to engage industry specialists in setting clear standards and frameworks towards enhancing water quality and resilience.

At Stormwater360, our focus is centred on delivering collaborative treatment solutions in a way that honours Te Mana o te Wai, and respects the essence of our water. Our stand at the conference and messaging will reflect this commitment.

We extend a warm invitation to government representatives and attendees to visit our stand, attend our paper presentations, and engage with our experts. Together, let us collaborate towards a future where stormwater management is not just a necessity, but a cornerstone of sustainable development.

We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
