As we near the end of July we reflect on the changes we have implemented to reduce single-use plastic for plastic-free July.
This is our fifth year partaking in Plastic Free July®, this global initiative aligns with our company values of working towards solutions to reduce plastic pollution. To learn more about Plastic Free July you can visit their website www.plasticfreejuly.org
Every year we find more ways to adapt to a plastic-free workplace, and over the years some of these changes implemented in Plastic Free July are now a permanent part of the Stormwater360 workplace.
Thanks to all the staff for pledging to make a difference in their single-use plastic usage this month. And a special mention to some of our key suppliers:
• Bella Vacca Jerseys Milk. This is a permanent swap out we implemented last year, saving approximately 125 plastic milk bottles over a year from going into circulation. We have also purchased their yoghurt.
• We are getting Plastic-Free/Tree-free Toilet Paper from EcoRoll
• Bakers Delight - Fresh cut bread, packaged in paper bags
• GoodFor - Muesli in compostable bags and honey in glass jars
• Countdown – Fruit, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, meat, plastic-free tissues, compostable bin liners
• Pallet wrap, packing tape & packing slips have been swapped out for a biodegradable solution.
Another initiative this month was to volunteer at our local park clean-up. We have been involved in the restoration of this park over the years. In the afternoon we went down to Rosedale Park to help plant more trees and remove blackberry. This restoration project is incredible, and the organizers have achieved so much.
